Why is there water in my window channel?

ANSWER:

If you have purchased our double hung or sliding windows, keep in mind that the sill (bottom) of the window is "stepped." This is to improve the seal of the sashes to the frame. However, one characteristic of a stepped sill is that water can accumulate in these channels during a driving rain. The sill has a series of "weep" holes placed in the frame to allow water to drain outside your home. However in extreme conditions water may fill the outer channel and spill into the inner channel. Don't be alarmed if this happens. The condition is rare and temporary. In time the weep system will catch up and the water will dissipate. If you feel that your weep system is plugged, or not working properly, please contact your installer or the factory for help.
